Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of New Zealand is a registered not-for-profit organisation dedicated to overseeing the national BBBS volunteer mentoring network. This network provides one-to-one mentoring for taiohi (young people) who are facing adversity.
BBBS branches across Aotearoa offer professional training and supervision to over 1000 volunteer mentors. Through their efforts, BBBS has made a significant impact, helping thousands of taiohi throughout Aotearoa realise their inherent value and boundless potential.
In Aotearoa New Zealand we are funded by the generosity of community sponsors and donors, both private individuals and philanthropic trust and corporations.
The role of the National BBBS as a nonprofit organisation, that oversees the affiliated branches, is multifaceted and crucial for ensuring the effective functioning and coordination of the organisation as a whole.
We offer support with strategic planning, capacity building, evaluation, communication and collaboration.
They volunteer their time and skills to ensure the programme meets national standards and regulations.
From the older the younger will learn, from the younger the older will learn.
Where the older has responsibilities to the younger, so does the younger to the older.
